The storyline and suspense get about 4 stars. I really loathed the killer and Eden had me wanting him to suffer. His death is quite satisfying. I was on the edge of my seat while reading this book. Eden does a good job with the suspense.
The love story gets about a 2.5. I know Monica was supposed to be cold and closed off because of her past but I felt she was too hard for too long. I really didn't warm to her which was disappointing because I liked Luke. I also think her unwillingness to face the past kept her from solving the case sooner. Probably supposed to be like that but a it felt too forced to me. How can she be a good profiler if she doesn't see the underlying problems within herself? She was just not my favorite tragic past heroine. Eve Dallas is much more likeable.
However, I do like the writing and look forward to reading more in the series.
